You must train with an expert to get the full potential of these Kata,s.

Bassai Dai
To Storm a fortress(Major)
Bassai Dai means Storm a Fortress but it could it could also be Protect the Fortress as it such a powerful Kata.

Bassai Dai
To Storm a fortress(Major)
Bassai Dai means Storm a Fortress but it could it could also be Protect the Fortress as it such a powerful Kata.
This Kata is about four hundred years old and was created by a left handed person,this may help you to understand some of the techniques better.
Step one
The first techniques are fast and explosive with movements in three directions within seconds.
Stand upright with arms down by your side and feet together Bow (Mushubi Dachi).
Move feet slightly apart with arms to the front of your hips with fist clentched (Shizentai).
Bring feet together and hands together with your right hand in a fist into the palm of your left hand (Bassai-Dai Yoi).
Step Two
Bring your left leg behind your right leg with only your toes on the floor,at the same time bend your right leg knee facing forward,move your right arm to your left your left side waist high bringing it forward fist clenched elbow bent into a inner outer block at the same time push your left hand onto your right arm between fist and elbow with the hand open as if to give the right hand block extra power and support.(Hiari Chudan Uchi Ude Uke).
Step Three
Step forward with your left leg keeping knee bent,at the same time pushing forwards with your right leg until it is straight.In the same movement bring your right hand back to your right side waist high while moving your left arm in a inner outer body block, your body facing right(Hidari Chudan Uchi Uke).
Step Four
Strike straight ahead with your left fist at the same time bring your hand under the left arm and bring forward into a inner outer body block twisting your body to face forwards.(Chudan Uchi Uke Gyaku Hammi).
Step fiveStep Two

Step forward with your left leg keeping knee bent,at the same time pushing forwards with your right leg until it is straight.In the same movement bring your right hand back to your right side waist high while moving your left arm in a inner outer body block, your body facing right(Hidari Chudan Uchi Uke).
Step Four
Strike straight ahead with your left fist at the same time bring your hand under the left arm and bring forward into a inner outer body block twisting your body to face forwards.(Chudan Uchi Uke Gyaku Hammi).
While with your right leg toes facing left strike out with your right hand and as in one movement bring the right hand back to your waist executing a left arm outer inner block bending the right knee and right foot and body facing forwards. (Chudan Soto Ude Uke gyaku hammi).
Step six
Staying in the same stance bring your right forwards in a inner outer block bringing the left hand back to the waist.Bring the left foot forwards and place it by your right foot keeping knees bent.(Migi Chudan Soto Ude Uke).
Step Seven
Bring your right hand down to knee height,come up with back straight right hand back by your right ear and your left arm pushed out in front of you fingers straight,as in a forward finger strike.Bring left leg back straight right knee bent executing a inner outer block with your right arm.(Migi Chudan Soto Uke).
Step Eight
Strike forwards with the right arm moving left arm under right arm.Bring the right arm back to your waist and your left arm into a inner outer chest height block.(Migi Chudan Uchi Uke-Gyaku Hanmi)
Step Nine
This is a very slow powerful movement and you must concentrate on your breathing.
Bring your left foot forwards level with the other and about a foot apart.
Bring your left arm to your right hand clasping clenched right fist with the left hand..(Koshi Gamae)
Keeping the same stance strike forwards with the left hand. with a knife block strike.(Chudan Tate Shuto Uke).
Step Ten
Bring your left hand back to your left waist and strike forwards with your right hand fist clenched knuckles forwards,keeping the same stance.(Chudan Zuki)
Step eleven
Bring your right hand back to your left side,strike out with your right han d with a inner outer block twisting body leftwards.(Chudan Soto Uchi Uke).
Step twelve
While twisting your body to face forwards bring your right hand back to your waist and strike with a forward punch with your left hand.(Chudan Zuki).
Step Thirteen
